Feb 21, 2012, 5 am. It is cool and silent. The city of Hyderabad has not yet woken up. I switch ON my laptop and open a WordPress account. To start a blog and write my first post.
That was 6 months ago. A half-year milestone for me. π
In school, I used to find the subject of English difficult. Writing essays used to give me the chills. The punctuations, the grammar, the beginning and ending styles and the millions of other writing rules.
Then came the internet and the mobile phone revolution. And things started changing. π
The more important thing now, is to get your point across to the reader. If you canβt do that, nothing else matters.
Some lessons from my blogging journey till date. Hope they help you too.
Clarity. Yes, I know that you are already aware of this childhood lesson –Β when we write something down, it becomes more clear, whether it is your greatest dream or your darkest fear. Writing both on and off public, I am slowly learning to evaluate things in life, giving me more clarity. Solutions might not come, but the questions and problems are less hazy.
Growth. I have realized how challenging it is to create something of value. On a regular basis. And follow consistently what I write about.
Connections. It is surprising the number of connections I have made in the last few months. Not just friends, family and relatives. But unknown people across the world. (Some of them have very graciously agreed to write guest posts.) I guess, many of us greatly underestimate the power of the internet.
And finally, the most difficult question. An existential one. What do I have to offer others?
Can I offer something which everyone already doesn’t know? Will people benefit by my posts? Or is the purpose of the blog just to fill up my creative need and calm my restlessness? More questions than answers.
Future plans? No idea. But the exploration shall continue. π
6 months might not sound like much for many. But for someone like me who gets distracted from one thing to other, this would be a dream milestone. Admiring your persistence and dedication in the 2012 Winter Discovery, which has seen through the summer and rains. Wish you even clearer days ahead. π

Thanks for that opportunity. Some years later I can boast about that in the same lines as “My article got published in The Hindu”. π

Expressing through words was always a medium, i was comfortable with. Learning from the way your blog post and its simple flow of ideas, i am on the verge of starting a (personal)blog too.
