A GUEST POST from my cousin Harish.
In today’s world, we are being constantly bombarded with information. Every phase of our life is being governed by it; we hardly get time to verify the fact behind the information we have in hand.
If you want to know diet techniques; you do research on the internet or switch on your TV and listen to a channel where some supposedly fit lady is giving dietary instructions. Does it apply to you? It doesn’t matter, you just try it out.
Take the case of violence across our country, every channel projects its point of view; is it really the ground reality of what is happening?
In this generation of media and internet; where everyone is trying to push their perspective into our minds… what is reality? Sadly, I think a lot of us are being made to see the world based on the views of few people (who probably don’t realize their power).
Seeing political debates on TV (which I generally avoid) reaffirms the point. Seeds being placed by this information are slowly growing into a revolution around the world. I find this to some extent, frightening. I bet out of the multitudes who protest; few know the actual facts, rest have distorted information.
I feel we are trapped in unending sources of information without much time or energy to process. (Or are we really processing? Maybe we are just swallowing the information?)
Back to the question – ‘What is real?’ I would like you to ponder on this. Don’t search on the internet for articles on this topic. Or check the TV for related programmes. I want you to sit and think on this on your own – your views, what YOU feel about reality.
Let me end with a quote from the cult movie The Matrix. Morpheus says to Neo – “This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes. Remember, all I’m offering is the truth – nothing more.”
Take the Red Pill now. 🙂
